Can’t help your shoulder pain?
Can’t help your shoulder pain?
So why you may treat your one side neck/shoulder pain long time with no results?
Because reason may be on the opposite side!
Let’s look at the posterior oblique sling and think. When one of the “participants of the sling” is weaker and not doing its function, the other one will work stronger to stabilize the body in standing. Talking posterior oblique sling – weakness (or misfiring) of the buttock on right side will cause overuse of latissimus dorsi on left side.
When gluteus maximus (gluteal) on one side is weak, and we know it helps to stabilize the SI joint during walking, then something has to assist in stabilizing the joint, and we know that left latissimus dorsi is the synergist that helps to stabilize right gluteal and right SI joint.
During gate if the function of right gluteal is inhibited, that will cause left scapula to depress and to compensation for it would be upper trapezius and levator scapulae tension -these muscles will start to fatigue and create pain in the left superior scapula.
