Who is Pilates Master teacher?
First of all, let’s start with a definition.
In short, a Master teacher is one who has mastered:
- the basics of teaching Pilates,
- one who goes above and beyond to ensure a positive learning experience for each student,
- and one who shares his or her knowledge with the broader learning community.
The specific criteria for master teacher certification vary from country to country, but most experts agree that master teachers are those who clearly demonstrate competency in five specific areas.
1.First, master teachers are focused on student learning and have teaching skills confirmed by Certification program
2.Second, master teachers are experts in their practice – in our case in Pilates. That means at level of master teacher they have mastered the Pilates method, which confirmed by Certification program and solid experience in teaching students.
3.Third, master teachers are experts in their content areas.
They know their subjects and not only understand the history, content, and real-world applications of their subjects, but they also possess a deep understanding of how students with diverse sets of skills and background knowledge can learn.
4.Fourth, master teachers actively participate in ongoing professional development.
They never stop learning to extend their teaching skills as well as exploring newest scientific research about movement science.
5.Lastly, master teacher are leaders in educational community- they constantly developing workshops and seminars to deepen understanding of Pilates method, its history and modern development.
Generally, in Pilates field Master teacher has to meet minimum criteria of:
-5-10 years of experience of teaching Pilates after finishing their Certification.
(Pilates teacher who never graduate their school and went through certification program can’t not only be called a master teacher, but also can’t be called a Certified Pilates teacher)
-Finished Master Mentor Program, specifically developed for training of the Master teachers (that includes not only deep knowledge of Pilates method, but also learning of teaching skills, psychology, analytics of learning process)
-Confirmed their level of knowledge by passing an exam of teaching Pilates and thesis on specific Pilates topic (such as different case studies in pathology, for example scoliosis, sciatica pain treatment using Pilates)
In Lolita’s Legacy school, Master teachers are the ones who was accepted to a program by mrs Lolita San Miguel personally, based on their certification( in a recognized and reputable Pilates School) and minimum experience of 5 years experience, finished 2 years Master Mentor Program (PMMP) and successfully passed the exam.
